His educational journey began at Wilbur McMahon School and continued through St. Andrew’s School in Barrington, RI. He then pursued a degree in Elementary & Middle Level Education through The University of Maine, graduating Cum Laude.
Brandon's professional career started as an Assistant Curator of Special Collections at the Culinary Archives & Museum at Johnson & Wales University. Following that, he went on to become a teacher and District Maintenance Supervisor for the New Shoreham School Department on Block Island. Currently, he is a partner and operator of “The Antique Stove Hospital” in Little Compton, specializing in the restoration of historical artifacts with a focus on cast iron stoves and ranges.
Throughout his career, Brandon has been committed to researching pedagogy and implementing effective teaching methods. His achievements include receiving the Pell Medal/Grant for Excellence in Historical Studies (1996) and the Virginia S. Cheney Distinguished Educator Award (2002). In 2009, he had the prestigious honor of delivering the keynote address at New Shoreham's graduation ceremony. Brandon’s experience has enabled him to work at the university level as well as in state-run, and site-based managed schools within Rhode Island. Having always valued actions over symbolic gestures, his commitment to education is matched by his dedication to provide meaningful support to local individuals and groups in need. He has been happily married to USCG Veteran Renee Lagasse Pineo for 18 years, and having grown up with a sibling that had special needs, is well aware of the challenges facing marginalized populations.
Brandon supports the adoption of rescued/abused animals and currently cares for an elderly rescue dog. He maintains the local agricultural traditions by cultivating personal food plots, as well as keeping a small flock of heritage poultry. Other interests include the repair, restoration, and use of intricate mechanical devices of all types.
